New recycling centres in meeting rooms!


The next time you go to meeting rooms in the Chambers Building or the Wellington Building, you are going to find new vertical recycling centres. This is a pilot project implemented by Partners For A Green Hill - Preserving Our Past, Protecting Our Future.

Please follow these simple guidelines when you are recycling:

Plastics

PLASTIC - PLASTIQUE

  • Place only plastics identified by a , , and recycle logo that are free of food waste
  • Not recyclable - all other plastics including plastic bags
Cans CANS - CANNETTES et BOITES DE CONSERVE
  • Place all metal food and beverage containers that are free of food waste
  • Remove straws and place in waste bin
Glass (coloured and clear) GLASS - VERRE
  • Place all glass containers that are free of food waste
  • Remove straws and place in waste bin
  • Not recyclable - light bulbs, broken drinking glasses, china, window glass

Any other recyclables should be placed in the recycling centres located on this floor. Recycle paper in the blue bin. Place all material that cannot be recycled in the waste bin.

Did you know?

The average federal employee generates 190 kilograms of solid non-hazardous waste per year. Of that amount, approximately 74 % is paper, including fine paper, low-grade paper, paper towels, newsprint, coated paper and cardboard; 9 % is organic; 7 % is glass; 4 % is plastic; 3 % is miscellaneous wastes; 1 % is wood; and 1 % is metal.
